Test.
Control.
Multiplied.
23 years building test and control systems for programs that can't afford guesswork — now building the AI systems that give North Alabama engineering teams their hours back. Working software in your environment, in weeks.

Why ATCS
-
Depth
23 years in engineering and test. 20 in test and control hardware and software. 10 as a National Instruments subject-matter expert. All of it in Huntsville.
-
Working software, not slide decks
Every engagement ships something that runs — including the two-week diagnostic. You see your own problem being solved before you commit to anything larger.
-
Fixed price, agreed acceptance
You know the cost before it starts, and what has to be true for it to count as delivered. Those criteria are written down, and I don't get to move them.
The SME

What ATCS Delivers
Two decades of engineering practice, and the AI systems that make it faster. Below is what I do. What I Do is how you buy it, priced, with the acceptance criteria published up front.
Data Acquisition, Control & Automation Software
I build the software that drives equipment and captures what it produces, from requirements definition through development, integration, and optimization. Standalone instruments, integrated rack and portable systems, and hardware-in-the-loop rigs. National Instruments is where my bench is deepest — LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, FlexLogger, DAQmx — but I work across instrument vendors and interfaces, PXI and GPIB through SCPI, serial, and Ethernet, so the stack fits your application instead of my habits. And where the workflow wrapped around that system is where the hours actually go, I automate that too.
Test, Qualification & Verification/Validation Engineering
End-to-end test system design and execution encompassing V&V activities aligned to program requirements and industry standards. Test plan development and ATP authoring, requirements-to-test traceability, automated execution, and the formal reports that close the loop between engineering intent and documented compliance. Development testing, qualification and environmental campaigns, EMI/EMC support, and first-article acceptance across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, including work to MIL-STD and customer-specific standards.
Process & Fabrication Engineering
Design, analysis, and implementation of manufacturing and fabrication processes with an emphasis on efficiency, repeatability, and compliance. Engagements frequently include legacy system assessment and modernization — from process revamping and control system retrofits to full platform replacement — ensuring aging infrastructure is brought in line with current operational and regulatory demands without unnecessary disruption to ongoing production.
Cybersecurity Compliance & Secure Environment Engineering
Practical cybersecurity guidance grounded in direct experience operating within classified and controlled environments, where security requirements shape every engineering decision. ATCS assists organizations in navigating compliance frameworks — including CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and related requirements — translating regulatory obligations into actionable, implementable controls that align with real-world operational constraints and program timelines.
Systems Integration & Program Support
Coordination and technical leadership across multi-vendor, multi-discipline programs where integration risk is high and schedule pressure is constant. ATCS provides the systems-level perspective needed to identify interface gaps early, manage technical dependencies, and ensure that hardware, software, and test infrastructure come together as a coherent, validated system — not just a collection of individually verified components.
Retainer & Ongoing Support
Standing monthly capacity, shaped around what you actually need rather than a fixed service tier. Scheduled maintenance, on-call troubleshooting, incremental development, embedded advisory, or a mix that changes quarter to quarter. NI platform support stays a standing offering, alongside whatever else your lab actually runs on. Every engagement starts with your application, not my catalog, drawing on two decades across testing, inspection, and certification environments where being wrong is expensive. Cancel with 30 days' notice, and I will tell you when it has stopped earning its keep.

Driven by Results
Alexander's Test & Control Solutions was founded on a single premise: the engineers who write your test software should understand your hardware, your physics, and your program constraints — not just the IDE.
Billy Alexander brings over two decades of hands-on experience across defense, aerospace, commercial, and industrial programs. As an NI-certified specialist working across test and measurement platforms, he has architected and delivered test systems for some of the most demanding applications in the country — where failures aren't acceptable and schedules don't slip.
